There's A GOP Plan For An Execution Spree If Trump Wins The White House

Buried on page 554 of the plan is a directive to execute every remaining person on federal death row — and dramatically expand the use of the death penalty. During the final six months of Donald Trump’s presidency, his administration carried out an unprecedented execution spree, killing 13 people on federal death row and ending a 17-year de facto federal execution moratorium.

Iran | Man Executed for Drug Offences in Bandar Abbas, Inmate Executed for Murder in Khorramabad

Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); August 28, 2022: Esmail Bargrizan, a Baluch man sentenced to death for drug-related offences, was executed in Bandar Abbas Prison.

According to the Hal Vash, a Baluch man was executed in Bandar Abbas Prison on August 28. His identity has been reported as Esmail Golrizan, a 28-year-old father.

Esmail Golrizan was arrested for drug-related offences around four years ago in Bandar Abbas and sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.

At the time of writing, his execution not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.

According to reports compiled by Iran Human Rights, at least 126 people were executed on drug-related charges in 2021, a fivefold increase compared to drug executions in the previous three years. This trend has continued into 2022, with 91 executions recorded in the first six months of 2022, double the number for the same period in 2021 when 40 people were executed.

At least 251 including 6 women and 67 Baluch minorities were executed in the first six months of 2022. This is double the number of executions in the same period in 2021 when 117 people were executed.

Man Executed for Murder in Khorramabad


Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); August 28, 2022: Omid Ali Geravand, a man sentenced to death for murder charges, was executed in Khorramabad Prison.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, a man was executed in Khorramabad Prison on August 27. His identity has been established Omid Ali Geravand who was sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder.

Omid Ali was arrested around two years ago according to HRANA newsagency which first reported news of his execution.

At the time of writing, his execution has not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.

According to data gathered by Iran Human Rights, at least 183 people were executed on murder charges in 2021. Those charged with the umbrella term of “intentional murder” are sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) regardless of intent or circumstances due to a lack of grading in law. Once a defendant has been convicted, the victim’s family are required to choose between death as retribution, diya (blood money) or forgiveness.
