PTI — A court in Prakasam District of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday awarded death sentence to a man for raping and killing his relative, a seven-year-old girl in July 2021.

Advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava has filed a PIL in the Supreme Court seeking the execution of the death penalty awarded to the convicts in Nirbhaya rape and murder case.  As per reports, the lawyer has appealed the apex court to issue directions to the central government to execute the death penalty awarded to all convicts within 2 weeks from the listing of the case. JAIPUR: Father of an infant girl was awarded the death sentence by the Jhunjhunu (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Court in on Friday for raping a minor on August 2. This is the fourth case in the state where the accused under POCSO were handed out death sentence. Nand Kishore, Special Public Prosecutor, POCSO Court, said this is the first case when the death sentence has been given to a rapist within 20 days of presenting the charge-sheet in a court. Accused Vinod Banjara, 23, is a resident of Dausa and used to sell utensils, Kishore said. On August 2, he raped the minor in a village when her maternal grandparents were away. The police formed a special team to investigate the case, Kishore said. “Through CCTVs, the accused was identified and arrested on August 3. Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], Feb 20 (ANI): The Rajasthan government will soon table a bill in the state assembly seeking death penalty for those convicted of raping minors. Rajasthan minister Gulab Chand Kataria told ANI that his government similar to that of Madhya Pradesh is mulling to bring a law under which, those convicted of raping minors will be executed. "We are working on bringing a law similar to that has been made in Madhya Pradesh which awards death for the rape of children aged 12 or below. It will be tabled in the assembly when it is ready," he said.
