ICBPS- The deputy of Islamic prosecutor has demanded the death sentence for a retired pilot who drank alcohol. The 73-year-old man has been arrested in the Iranian capital Tehran on charges of “drinking alcohol and drunk driving”, and since he has been arrested three times before on charges of “drinking alcohol”, the Islamic judicial authorities are seeking a death sentence for him. The veteran has refused the accusation, the judiciary-run new ROKNA reported. Since the Khomeinist regime took power in the 1979 Islamic Revolution, under Shari’a law, alcoholic consumption has been strictly forbidden in the country. Alcohol, however, is readily available on the black market, despite the severe penalties. Under the law, it is forbidden for Iran’s Muslim [born] citizens to consume hard liquors.
