There's A GOP Plan For An Execution Spree If Trump Wins The White House

Buried on page 554 of the plan is a directive to execute every remaining person on federal death row — and dramatically expand the use of the death penalty. During the final six months of Donald Trump’s presidency, his administration carried out an unprecedented execution spree, killing 13 people on federal death row and ending a 17-year de facto federal execution moratorium.

Iran | Executions in Qazvin, Rajai Shahr, Isfahan, Miandoab

Yousef Hashemi who was sentenced to qisas for murder, has been executed in Qazvin Central Prison.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, a man was executed in Qazvin Central Prison on the morning of March 16. Sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder, his identity has been established as Yousef Hashemi from Hamedan.

An informed source told Iran Human Rights: “Yousef Hashemi was a father of one and repaired vehicle dynamos and batteries prior to arrest. He had been in prison for more than four years and had gone to the gallows once before but had obtained an extension from the victim’s next of kin. He wasn’t able to convince them to forgive him in that period.”

At the time of writing, Yousef Hashemi’s execution has not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.

According to Iran Human Rights’ Annual Report on the Death Penalty, at least 211 of the 267 people executed in 2020 were sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for "premeditated murder."

As there are no legal distinctions made between murder and manslaughter and no grading, whether voluntary or involuntary in Iran, those charged under the umbrella term of “premeditated murder” will receive the death penalty regardless of intent and the circumstances.

Mohsen Jandaghi and Brothers Gholamali and Abbas Khargir Executed in Rajai Shahr Prison


3 men who have been on death row for charges of “murder in the course of an armed robbery” for more than 20 years, were executed in Rajai Shahr Prison.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, at least 3 men were executed in Rajai Shahr Prison on the morning of March 16. Sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder in the course of an armed robbery, the 3 co-defendants have been identified as Gholamali Khargir, Abbas Khargir and Mohsen Jandaghi.

They were arrested as part of the same case and had spent more than 20 years on death row. Gholamali and Abbas Khargir were brothers.

An informed source told Iran Human Rights: “The victim’s next of kin who were his 2 brothers came to the prison gates with swords, making it obvious that they weren’t going to grant forgiveness.”

According to unverified reports, the number of executions today are likely to be higher.

At the time of writing, the execution of Gholamali Khargir, Abbas Khargir and Mohsen Jandaghi have not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.

Afghan National Executed for Murder in Isfahan


An Afghan national was executed in Isfahan Central Prison after being sentenced to qisas for murder.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, an Afghan national was executed in Isfahan Central Prison on the morning of March 16. Sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder, his identity has only been identified by his first name, Zobeid.

He was arrested and on death row for around 5 years.

At the time of writing, Zobeid’s execution has not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.

Nezam Ali Mirzaei Executed for Murder in Miandoab Prison


Nezam Ali Mirzaei was executed on murder charges in Miandoab Prison.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, a man was executed in Miandoab Prison on the morning of March 10. His identity has been established as Nezam Ali Mirzaei who was sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder.

An informed source told Iran Human Rights: “Nezam Ali Mirzaei was married with a child and worked in a bakery prior to arrest. He was arrested on the murder charges around 8 years ago.”

At the time of writing, Nezam Ali MIrzaei’s execution has not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.
