Iranian authorities executed Ali Mirzaei and Aziz Roshanayi, who had been sentenced to death in separate murder cases, at Babol Central Prison and Shiraz Central Prison (Adelabad Prison), respectively.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Mirzaei, a singer from Babol, was executed at dawn on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Babol Central Prison in Mazandaran Province.
Informed sources said Mirzaei had been arrested over an unintentional killing during an altercation at a café and sentenced to death. Three months ago, he was transferred to solitary confinement for execution but received a three-month reprieve. His execution was ultimately carried out after he failed to secure the consent of the victim’s family.
Meanwhile, Roshanayi, who had been arrested and sentenced to death on a charge of “premeditated murder,” was executed at Shiraz Central Prison (Adelabad Prison).
Neither execution has been announced by Iranian state media or judiciary-affiliated outlets.
Executions in Zahedan, Qom
Iranian authorities have executed at least three prisoners in recent days, including a Baloch prisoner, in Zahedan and Qom central prisons on charges of “robbery and rape” and “drug-related offenses.”
According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Sina Alipour, a 26-year-old Baloch man from Lashar, was executed in Zahedan Central Prison at dawn on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
Informed sources told Hengaw that Alipour was arrested in Chabahar in 2023 while on leave from compulsory military service and later sentenced to death by the Chabahar Criminal Court on charges of “robbery and rape". Around 40 days before his execution, he was transferred from Chabahar Prison to Zahedan Central Prison for implementation of the sentence.
Separately, Abbas Mardani, 30, from Shahr-e Rey, and Mansour Rahiminejad, 38, from Varamin and the father of a young child, were executed in Qom Central Prison at dawn on Monday, August 31, 2026, on “drug-related offenses.”
Mardani had been detained two years earlier and Rahiminejad four years earlier. Both were sentenced to death by a Revolutionary Court on “drug-related offenses.”
Their executions have not been announced by Iran’s state media or institutions affiliated with the judiciary.
Execution in Rasht
Iranian authorities have executed Jalal Nematzadeh, a Gilak prisoner from Bandar Anzali who had been sentenced to death on drug-related charges, at Rasht Central Prison (Lakan Prison).
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Nematzadeh, a father of three from Bandar Anzali in Gilan province, was executed at Lakan Prison in Rasht at dawn on August 11, 2026.
Sources familiar with the case said Nematzadeh was arrested approximately five years ago on drug-related charges and subsequently sentenced to death by a Revolutionary Court. He had also previously been imprisoned in other cases and had served a combined 13 years in prisons in Rasht, Bandar Anzali and Sari.
Iranian state media and judicial authorities have not publicly announced his execution.
