Biden Fails a Death Penalty Abolitionist’s Most Important Test

Image
The mystery of Joe Biden’s views about capital punishment has finally been solved. His decision to grant clemency to 37 of the 40 people on federal death row shows the depth of his opposition to the death penalty. And his decision to leave three of America’s most notorious killers to be executed by a future administration shows the limits of his abolitionist commitment. The three men excluded from Biden’s mass clemency—Dylann Roof, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, and Robert Bowers—would no doubt pose a severe test of anyone’s resolve to end the death penalty. Biden failed that test.

Kuwait | Six Executed, Female Convict Spared at Last Minute

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 5: This Thursday morning at exactly 7:00 am, the Criminal Execution Prosecution carried out the death penalty for six convicts at the Central Prison.

Among those executed were three Kuwaiti citizens, two Iranians, and one Pakistani. However, the execution of a Kuwaiti woman, convicted of killing her friend, was withdrawn at the last moment after the victim's heirs accepted blood money and pardoned her.

Earlier, the death sentence was set to be carried out for seven individuals who have received death sentences by court.

According to information obtained from security sources, the executions involved seven people convicted of murder, including six men and one woman.

The executions normally take place at the central prison under the supervision of the Public Prosecution.

The convicts have been separated from other inmates and have undergone medical examinations. Among them is a man convicted of killing his friend in the Tenth District.
