Iran | Three Unidentified Men Executed for Murder in Sari, Man Executed for Murder in Isfahan

Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); October 20, 2022: Official sources have reported the execution of three men for murder in Sari Central Prison.

According to Rokna, three men were executed Sari Central Prison on October 19. The three unnamed men were sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder.

The murder is reported to have taken place in the village of Ghaleh Sar in Neka six years ago.

According to data gathered by Iran Human Rights, at least 183 people were executed on murder charges in 2021. Those charged with the umbrella term of “intentional murder” are sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) regardless of intent or circumstances due to a lack of grading in law. 

Once a defendant has been convicted, the victim’s family are required to choose between death as retribution, diya (blood money) or forgiveness.

Mansour Ghorbani-Bendarati Executed for Murder in Isfahan


Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); October 20, 2022: Mansour Ghorbani-Bendarati, a man sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder, was executed in Isfahan Central Prison.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, man was executed in Isfahan Central Prison on October 19. His identity has been established as 28-year-old Mansour Ghorbani-Bendarati who was sentenced to qisas for murder.

Informed sources told Iran Human Rights that Mansour was arrested for the alleged murder seven years ago.

At the time of writing, his execution has not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.

Iran sentences popular rapper to death for supporting Mahsa Amini protests

An Iranian court has sentenced to death a popular rapper jailed for more than a year and a half for supporting nationwide protests sparked by Mahsa Amini's death, local media reported Wednesday . "Branch 1 of Isfahan Revolutionary Court sentenced Toomaj Salehi to death on the charge of corruption on Earth," the singer's lawyer Amir Raisian said, quoted by the reformist Shargh newspaper.

Iraq executes 13 on ‘vague’ terrorism charges

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Amnesty International on Wednesday criticized Iraqi authorities for carrying out the death sentences of 13 men on the same day, saying the prisoners were denied fair trial, and expressed concern that many others had been executed in secret. A total of 13 prisoners were executed in Dhi Qars Nasiriyah central prison on Monday, and scores more have been executed since April 10, said the Amnesty report citing activists and lawyers of the death row prisoners.

PETALING JAYA: Amnesty International Malaysia has commended Malaysia for the abolition of the mandatory death penalty and for imposing a moratorium on the execution of the death sentence, which has led to an overall decrease in the use of the death penalty by the courts. Earlier this week, an Iranian revolutionary court sentenced the outspoken artist to death for his songs supporting the nationwide protests of 2022, charges that his lawyer, Amir Raeisian, claims he had previously been acquitted of.
