Buried on page 554 of the plan is a directive to execute every remaining person on federal death row — and dramatically expand the use of the death penalty. During the final six months of Donald Trump’s presidency, his administration carried out an unprecedented execution spree, killing 13 people on federal death row and ending a 17-year de facto federal execution moratorium.

Iran | 7 Men Including 4 Baluch Minorities Executed for Drug Offences in Minab Prison; Man Executed for Drug Offences in Khorramabad

Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); September 6, 2022: Seven men including four Baluch minorities, were executed for drug-related charges in Minab Prison.

According to Hal Vash, seven men were executed in Minab Prison on September 6. Their identities have been reported as Abdolkhalegh Narouyi, 46-year-old Soleiman Narouyi, 36-year-old Abdolghafour Bahadorzadeh-Rigi, Abbas Nobakht, Mohammad Zobeiri, Mohammad Kazemi and Mohammadreza Hedayati, who were all sentenced to death for drug-related charges by the Revolutionary Court.

The seven men were transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for their executions on September 4.

At the time of writing, none of their executions have been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.

According to reports compiled by Iran Human Rights, at least 126 people were executed on drug-related charges in 2021, a fivefold increase compared to drug executions in the previous three years. This trend has continued into 2022, with 91 executions recorded in the first six months of 2022, double the number for the same period in 2021 when 40 people were executed.

At least 251 including 6 women and 67 Baluch minorities were executed in the first six months of 2022. This is double the number of executions in the same period in 2021 when 117 people were executed.

Man Executed for Drug Offences in Khorramabad


Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); September 6, 2022: Massoud Ghaed-Rahmati was executed for drug-related offences in Khorramabad Central Prison.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, a man was executed in Khorramabad Central Prison on September 6. His identity has been established as Massoud Ghaed-Rahmati.

Informed sources told Iran Human Rights that Massoud was arrested for possession of six kilograms of heroin around four years ago and was sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.

At the time of writing, his execution has not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.
