Iran Human Rights (IHR); March 7, 2021: a 64 year-old man sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder, has been executed at Yasuj Central Prison.
According to Asre Iran, a 64 year-old man was executed in the early hours of this morning, March 7, at Yasuj Central Prison.
The unnamed prisoner was sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder.
The 64-year-old man, who was a teacher in Yasuj before his arrest, was accused of killing his second wife and brother-in-law with a gun in a village in Boyer-Ahmad.
As there are no legal distinctions made between murder and manslaughter, whether voluntary or involuntary in Iran, those charged under the umbrella term of “premeditated murder” will receive the death penalty regardless of intent and the circumstances.
