The letter below was received by Lisa Brown, mother of Christopher Vialva, who was executed by the federal government in September 2020 . Lisa was present and witnessed the execution. Sure, this is probably a part of the protocol, but its lack of recognition that she was there, and the very idea that they care one bit if anyone has questions or concerns, is just one more inconsiderate and insensitive jab at the families of the condemned... Iran | Inmate Executed in Shiraz

Iran Human Rights (IHR); February 3, 2021: Jabbar Nemati, a prisoner sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder, has been executed in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz

According to Iran Human Rights, on the morning of February 2, a male prisoner was executed in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz.

The identity of the prisoner who was sentenced to qisas for murder, has been established as 37-year-old Jahrom native, Jabbar Nemati.

An informed source told IHR: “Jabbar was a welder and committed murder during a fight over an 8 million Tomans debt that his debtor wouldn’t pay back and was sentenced to death in court. Jabbar was engaged but after five months of hopeless waiting, his fiancĂ©e left him and Jabbar was left alone with his mother and did everything he could to obtain the consent of his victim’s family but was unsuccessful.”

At the time of writing, Jabbar Nemati’s execution has not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.

As there are no legal distinctions made between murder and manslaughter, whether voluntary or involuntary in Iran, those charged under the umbrella term of “premeditated murder” will receive the death penalty regardless of intent and the circumstances.
