As clock ticks toward another Trump presidency, federal death row prisoners appeal for clemency

President-elect Donald Trump’s return to office is putting a spotlight on the U.S. penitentiary in Terre Haute, which houses federal death row. In Bloomington, a small community of death row spiritual advisors is struggling to support the prisoners to whom they minister.  Ross Martinie Eiler is a Mennonite, Episcopal lay minister and member of the Catholic Worker movement, which assists the homeless. And for the past three years, he’s served as a spiritual advisor for a man on federal death row.

Iran: At Least Four Men Executed at One Prison in One Day

Iran Human Rights (IHR); October 4, 2019: At least four men were executed at Rajai-Shahr Prison, near Tehran, Wednesday.

According to IHR sources, at least four prisoners were executed on Wednesday, October 2, 2019. 

Hamid Sheikhi and Mohammadreza Ghanbari had been sentenced to death for murder charges. 

Hossein Roshan and Mohsen Kounani had been sentenced to death for Moharebeh (waging war against God) by armed robbery.

Their executions have not been announced by Iranian authorities or media so far. 

At least 110 people were executed in Iran in the first half of 2019.
