Iran Human Rights; March 9, 2019: A prisoner was executed for murder charges on February 13, 2019, at Qazvin Central Prison (Also known as Chubin-Dar Prison).
According to a report published by Kurdistan Human Rights Network, a man identified as Ali Shakouri, was executed at Qazvin Central Prison on February 13, 2019.
Ali was from Tarzilu village, near Urmia city in northwestern Iran.
Five years ago, "Ali, who is a Kurdish Iranian citizen, fought with someone and injured him.
He took the injured person to hospital but made an accident while driving. He was panicked and ran away.
The injured person died and Ali was arrested later for his murder," a well-informed source said, "Ali was 21 at the time of the crime."
The aforementioned execution has not been announced by Iranian media or authorities so far.
According to the Iran Human Rights statistic department, the majority of executions in 2017 and 2018 in Iran was for murder charges.
At least 188 prisoners were executed for murder charges in 2018.
There is a lack of a classification of murder by degree in Iran which results in issuing a death sentence for any kind of murder regardless of intensity and intent.
