On April 18, 2024, the Arkansas Supreme Court decided 4-3 to reverse a 2022 lower court decision and allow genetic testing of crime scene evidence from the 1993 killing of three eight-year-old boys in West Memphis. The three men convicted in 1994 for the killings were released in 2011 after taking an Alford plea, in which they maintained their innocence but plead guilty to the crime, in exchange for 18 years’ time served and 10 years of a suspended sentence.

Islamic State posts photos of ‘gay’ thrown off building and stoned to death

controlled by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant
Photographs of a man believed to have been gay being thrown off a building and stoned to death have been posted by the Islamic State group.

The photos were posted on Tuesday, and were accompanied by a statement explaining that the man had been suspected of having “practiced sodomy”.

It read: “The Islamic court in Wilayet al-Furat decided that a man who has practised sodomy must be thrown off the highest point in the city, and then stoned to death.”

The images show the man being thrown off a building at an unspecified location suspected to be in Syria or Iraq.

Another shows him lying on the ground.

Isil terrorists throw man off roof 'for being gay'

Pictures of the murder posted on jihadist website provide further evidence of Islamic State's reign of terror in Syria and northern Iraq

Isil terrorists have released pictures of themselves throwing a man off a roof for allegedly being gay.

The murder took place in an area of northern Iraq controlled by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil).

Nine armed insurgents, their faces concealed by black balaclavas, are shown gathered on the roof of a three-storey building, while their victim plummets to the ground below.

Whether the man was killed instantly is not known. But the images, posted on a jihadist website, provide further evidence of the brutal rule imposed on large areas of Syria and Iraq by Isil fanatics.

This is the third occasion on which a man has been killed in Isil's domain for allegedly being gay. A statement accompanying the pictures reads: “The Islamic court in Wilayet al-Furat decided that a man who has practised sodomy must be thrown off the highest point in the city”.

Wilayet al-Furat is an area spanning the border between Syria and Iraq which has now become Isil’s stronghold.

Elsewhere, Isil has carried out public beheadings and mutilations. Human heads have been impaled on railings in the centre of Raqqa, a Syrian town serving as Isil’s unofficial capital.

Numerous Isil fighters have posted pictures of themselves posing with severed heads. Isil has also reintroduced slavery in the area under its control, with women from minority groups, notably the Yazidis, being forced in sexual servitude.

Isil’s leaders say that all these punishments and the enslavement of non-believers are in line with their interpretation of Islamic law.
