Japan | Hakamada found religion, but then felt under attack by ‘the devil’

Iran: One Public Hanging in Khoramshahr, Five Executions in Kerman, and Two in Isfahan

1 public hanging in southwestern town of Khoramshahr and 5 executions in the prison of Kerman.

1 man was hanged in public in the town og Khoramshahr, in the southwest Iranian province of Khuzestan, according to the official websites of the Khuzestan judiciary.

The man was identified as Torab A. (age unknown) and was convicted of drug trafficking according to the report.

According to the report, the public hanging took place in the "Ashayer" square of Khoramshahr on Wednesday April 14.

The same day 3 other men had been hanged in public in the northern city of Babolsar.

On April 13. another man was hanged in public in the town of Mahshahr (also in Khuzestan province) convicted of armed robbery, while his partner was punished with amputation of one hand and one foot.

Iranian authorities have increased number of the public executions since March 2010. Most of the public executions have taken place in the southwesten province of Khuzestan.

According to the official website of the Iranian judiciary in Kerman, 5 men were hanged in the prison of this city. The exact date of the executions wasnt mentioned but the report was published on Saturday April 17.

The 5 men who were hanged were identified as:

Mehdi N., convicted of drug trafficking, armed robbery and kidnapping

Feizollah B, Nazar B., and Gholam H., convicted of drug trafficking

Hossein S., convicted of rape

Since April 8., at least 23 people have been reported to be executed in Iran. 7 of these people have been hanged in public.


2 men were hanged in Isfahan (Central Iran)

2 men were hanged in the central Iranian city of Isfahan, reported the Iranian daily newspaper Kayhan.

The men were identified as Soleiman J and Ahmad Kh and were convicted of rape. Age of none of them was mentioned in the report.

The charges have not been confirmed by independent sources.

Since April 8, at least 25 executions have been reported in Iran.

According to the annual report of Iran Human Rights, at least 402 people were executed in 2009 in Iran. The actual number is probably much higher.
