Reyhaneh Jabbari |
Last Monday [October 6, 2014], Reyhaneh Jabbari's mother got a call from her daughter.
Reyhaneh told her that she would be executed early the next morning.
Iranian authorities confirmed the execution and told Reyhaneh's mother she should come to the prison the next day to 'collect the body'.
But at the last minute, the execution was postponed - possibly due to public outcry as Reyhaneh's story went global.
Reyhaneh received a reprieve.
That means we have a last chance to save her.
Reyhaneh, now 26 years old, has been in prison for seven years.
At just 19, she was charged with murder after stabbing a man she says was trying to rape her.
Reyhaneh admits to stabbing the man once, but maintains a third person was involved in his killing.
These claims, which could clear Reyhaneh's name, have never been properly investigated.
Reyhaneh has been subjected to a flawed investigation and unfair trial.
She spent two months in solitary confinement, without access to her lawyer or family. She was also subjected to other forms of ill-treatment or torture during this period of isolation.
We need to create public pressure again, right now -- a young woman's life depends on it.
