Iran | Executions in Ahvaz, Shiraz, Karaj

Iranian authorities have executed Hadi Hasanlou on “drug-related” charges at Shiraz Central Prison and Nemat Maghami on a charge of “premeditated murder” at Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Hadi Hasanlou, a 36-year-old Turkish prisoner from Maragheh, was executed at dawn on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Shiraz Central Prison (Adelabad Prison).

Hasanlou had been arrested in Shiraz approximately 18 months earlier on “drug-related” charges and was subsequently sentenced to death by the city’s Revolutionary Court.

Separately, Nemat Maghami, a 32-year-old Arab prisoner from Ahvaz, was executed at dawn on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz.

Maghami had been arrested four years earlier on a charge of “premeditated murder” involving a hunting firearm and was later sentenced to death.

Neither execution has been reported by Iranian state media or judiciary-affiliated outlets.

Execution in Karaj

Iranian authorities have executed Mehrdad Asadi, a prisoner who had previously been sentenced to death under Iran’s qisas (retributive justice) laws for murder, at Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Asadi, a Tehran resident, was executed at dawn on September 16, 2026, at Ghezel Hesar Prison.

Sources familiar with the case said Asadi was arrested five years ago on a murder charge and was subsequently sentenced to death under qisas laws by the Iranian judiciary.

Iranian state media and judicial authorities have not publicly announced the execution.
