Iranian authorities executed Mohammadreza Rezaei Knkat, a 26-year-old Kurdish prisoner from Nurabad, Delfan, on drug-related charges in Khorramabad Central Prison.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution was carried out at dawn on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
Informed sources told Hengaw that Rezaei Knkat was arrested in 2019 at the age of 19 on drug-related charges and subsequently sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary.
He was transferred to solitary confinement on Tuesday, August 18, in preparation for the execution. His family and relatives held a protest outside the Khorramabad judiciary building and prison on Thursday, August 20, calling for the execution to be halted and the sentence overturned.
The execution has not been announced by state media, particularly outlets affiliated with the judiciary.
Four executed in Isfahan
Iranian authorities executed four prisoners in Isfahan Central Prison after they were sentenced to death in separate drug-related cases.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the executions were carried out on Wednesday morning, August 19, 2026. Those executed were Mohsen Darabi, a Kurdish man from Kermanshah (Kermashan) and father of two; Omidreza Ghanbarian, a 40-year-old Turk from Tabriz and father of one; Amir Farhadi, from Isfahan; and Abdolbaset Barahouei (Eidouzehi), a 30-year-old Baloch man from Zahedan.
All four had previously been arrested on drug-related charges in separate cases and sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary.
State media, including outlets affiliated with the judiciary, have not reported the executions.
Executions in Ilam
Iranian authorities executed Khodadad Mohammadi, a retired Kurdish teacher from Eyvan-e Gharb and father of five, at Ilam Central Prison, bringing the number of prisoners executed at the facility on the same day to at least two.
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Mohammadi was executed at dawn on August 19, 2026, at Ilam Central Prison.
Sources familiar with the case said Mohammadi was arrested about two years ago on the charge of murdering his son-in-law and was subsequently sentenced to death under Iran’s qisas (retributive justice) laws by the Ilam Provincial Criminal Court.
With the execution of 20-year-old Donya Mohammadi at the same prison on the same day, at least two prisoners were executed at Ilam Central Prison on Wednesday.
Iranian state media and judicial authorities have not publicly announced either execution.
