Iran | Executions in Tabriz, Zanjan, Qazvin

Iranian authorities executed at least three prisoners, including two Turks, identified as Amrollah Dousti, Hojjat Khayat, and Yousef Bagheri, in Tabriz and Zanjan Central Prisons. Dousti and Khayat were executed on drug-related charges, while Bagheri was executed for “premeditated murder.”

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Dousti, 40, from Bandar Abbas and a father of two, and Khayat, 51, from Tabriz and a father of three, were executed in Tabriz Central Prison on Sunday, August 9, 2026.

Informed sources told Hengaw that Dousti and Khayat had been arrested on drug-related charges two and four years earlier, respectively, and subsequently sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary.

Separately, Bagheri, 30, from Zanjan, was executed in Zanjan Central Prison on Saturday, August 8. He had been arrested three years earlier on a charge of “premeditated murder” and sentenced to death.

Neither Iranian state media nor judiciary-affiliated outlets have reported the three executions.

Iran executes 24-year-old victim of child marriage at Qazvin prison

Iranian authorities executed Marzieh Nayeri, a 24-year-old woman who had been forced into marriage as a child, at Qazvin Central Prison, also known as Choubindar Prison. She had been sentenced to death for the murder of her husband.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Nayeri was executed at dawn on Aug. 8, 2026, at Qazvin Central Prison.

Sources familiar with the case said that in late September 2021, when Nayeri was 18, a business associate of her husband named Alireza attempted to sexually assault her after consuming alcohol in the presence of her husband. Nayeri injured the man with a kitchen knife while defending herself and subsequently killed her husband. After four days in hiding, she sought refuge with her brother, who later turned her over to police.

Nayeri, who was from a village between Qazvin and Karaj, had been forced by her family to marry a man named Davoud when she was 17. Sources familiar with the case said her husband regularly allowed friends to gather at their home to consume drugs and alcohol and failed to intervene when they harassed or attempted to sexually assault her.

Nayeri was later sentenced to death under Iran’s qisas (retributive justice) laws for the murder of her husband.

Iranian state media and judicial authorities have not publicly announced the execution.

After Ivester was unable to get money from her mother, the men beat and tortured her, prosecutors said. She died from internal bleeding and multiple injuries. KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – Iranian authorities have reportedly executed an Afghan citizen, identified as Valijan Nourzay, at the central prison in Rafsanjan, according to the human rights organization Hengaw. Hengaw said in a statement on Sunday, September 6, that Nourzay was executed early Wednesday last week at Rafsanjan Central Prison. According to the organization, Nourzay had a severe mobility disability and was executed while in a wheelchair.
