Lor prisoner Abbas Abdolmaleki, a resident of Varamin who had been sentenced to death on a charge of “premeditated murder,” was executed at Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj in early February 2026. The Hengaw Organization for Human Rights is reporting the execution for the first time nearly five months after it was carried out.
According to information received by Hengaw, the 40-year-old was executed on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Ghezel Hesar Prison.
He had been arrested about four years earlier in connection with a case involving an alleged “mass murder” and was later sentenced to death by the Iranian Judiciary. His relatives maintain that he was innocent of the charges.
Iranian state media and the Judiciary have not announced the execution.
Execution in Sanandaj
Iranian authorities have executed Shorsh Sattarzadeh, a Kurdish prisoner from Saqqez, after he spent 18 years in prison. He had previously been sentenced to death on a charge of premeditated murder.
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution of Shorsh Sattarzadeh, a resident of Chapan Olya village in the Ziwiyeh district of Saqqez County, was carried out at dawn on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, in Sanandaj Central Prison (Sine).
Sattarzadeh was arrested 18 years ago, in 2008, following a family dispute over the murder of his sister-in-law’s mother-in-law, identified by her first name, Khavar, in Saqqez. He was subsequently sentenced to qisas (retribution in kind) by the Iranian judiciary.
The execution of Shorsh Sattarzadeh has not been announced by Iranian domestic media or official sources affiliated with the judiciary.
Execution in Shiraz
Iranian authorities executed Rasul Rasouli, a resident of Fasa County in Fars Province, at Adelabad Prison in Shiraz after convicting him on "drug-related" charges.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Rasouli's execution was carried out in the early hours of Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Shiraz Central Prison (Adelabad Prison).
Hengaw has learned that Rasouli had been arrested several years ago by Iran's Law Enforcement Command (FARAJA) on charges related to the transportation, purchase, and sale of narcotics. He was subsequently sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.
Iranian state media and the Judiciary's official outlets have not announced the execution.
