Iran executes man accused of spying for Israel, Iranian media reports

The execution is the third in recent weeks related to the conducting of espionage on behalf of Israel.

Iran has executed a man who was found guilty of spying for Israel's intelligence agency Mossad, the semi-official Fars news agency and the Iranian Student News Agency reported on Monday, identifying the man as Esmail Fekri.

Fekri was killed by hanging this morning, according to ISNA, after originally being arrested in December.

“Esmaeil Fekri, a Mossad agent convicted of the capital offences of 'corruption on Earth' and 'moharebeh' (waging war against God) was hanged after going through the full process of criminal procedure,” the judiciary's Mizan Online news website said.

Iran alleged that Fekri was in contact with two Mossad agents and provided them with intelligence.

Mizan said the execution was carried out after all legal procedures were completed and the verdict was upheld by the supreme court.

The execution is the third in recent weeks related to the conduct of espionage on behalf of Israel.

Tehran's operations against alleged Mossad personnel in Iran

On Sunday, Iranian media reported that police in Alborz province, west of Tehran, had arrested two people suspected of links to Mossad. The two individuals are accused of being members of Israel's intelligence agency and were allegedly arrested while preparing explosives and electronic devices

On Monday, the Rey County Special Police Command arrested two alleged Mossad internal agents in Fashafoyeh, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency.
