Mansour Mansouri, previously sentenced to death for murder, was executed in Ilam Central Prison on 11 March.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) had reported the execution of another prisoner, Moein Salavarzizadeh, in Ilam Central Prison on the same day.
A source who spoke to KHRN said: “Mansour Mansouri, 44 years old, unmarried and from the city of Sarableh in Ilam Province, was arrested about a year and a half ago on charges of ‘premeditated murder'”.
The source went on to highlight Mansouri’s previous imprisonment in Iraq for illegally crossing the border, continuing: “Years ago, Mansour went to Iraq to join one of the Kurdish opposition parties. However, he was arrested there for crossing the border illegally and spent about six months in one of the country’s prisons."
The source added: “The secret services were aware of his political activities and his intention to join a Kurdish opposition party. When he was arrested on charges of murder, the death sentence was issued and executed in a speedy trial, with pressure from the security institutions on the victim’s family not to consent”.
