U.S. | I'm a Death Row Pastor. They're Just Ordinary Folks

In the early 1970s I was a North Carolinian, white boy from the South attending Union Theological Seminary in New York City, and working in East Harlem as part of a program. In my senior year, I visited men at the Bronx House of Detention. I had never been in a prison or jail, but people in East Harlem were dealing with these places and the police all the time. This experience truly turned my life around.

Iran | 3 Men Executed in Shiraz, Man Executed in Qom, 3 Men Secretly Hanged in Zahedan

Shiraz Central Prison on November 12. Two of the men have been identified as Vahid Pakzad and Keyvan Tajadod. Vahid was sentenced to death for drug-related charges by the Revolutionary Court and Keyvan was sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder.

The identity of the third prisoner who was transferred to the gallows from Ward 4 of the prison has not been established at the time of writing but he was sentenced to death for drug-related charges.

An informed source told Iran Human Rights: “Vahid Pakzad was arrested three years ago and sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.”

At the time of writing, none of their executions have been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.

At least 251 including 6 women and 67 Baluch minorities were executed in the first six months of 2022. This is double the number of executions in the same period in 2021 when 117 people were executed.

Man Executed for Drug Charges in Qom


Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); November 15, 2022: Sultan Seifi who was sentenced to death for drug-related charges, were executed in Qom Central Prison.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, a man was executed in Qom Central Prison on November 13. His identity has been established as Sultan Seifi who was sentenced to death for drug-related charges by the Revolutionary Court.

An informed source told Iran Human Rights: “Sultan Seifi was a taxi driver prior to his arrest. He was arrested around three years ago on the Tehran-Qom motorway and sentenced to death.”

At the time of writing, his execution has not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.

Three Men Secretly Executed for Drug Charges in Zahedan


Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); November 15, 2022: Emam Bakhsh Narouyi, Mohsen Anshini and Vali Roudini, three Baluch men sentenced to death for drug-related charges, were executed in Zahedan Central Prison.

According to Hal Vash, three Baluch men were executed Zahedan Central Prison on November 13. Their identities have been reported as Emam Bakhsh Narouyi, Mohsen Anshini and Vali Roudini who were sentenced to death for drug-related charges by the Revolutionary Court.

The report states that they were executed without prior notification and the right to a last visit with their families.

At the time of writing, none of their executions have been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.
