The letter below was received by Lisa Brown, mother of Christopher Vialva, who was executed by the federal government in September 2020 . Lisa was present and witnessed the execution. Sure, this is probably a part of the protocol, but its lack of recognition that she was there, and the very idea that they care one bit if anyone has questions or concerns, is just one more inconsiderate and insensitive jab at the families of the condemned... Iran | Two Inmates Executed in Kermanshah

Prisoners Houshang Mohammadi and Ali Angazi Executed in Kermanshah, Iran

At least 2 men including Houshang Mohammadi and Ali Angazi who were sentenced to qisas on murder charges, were executed in [secret] in Kermanshah Central Prison around a month ago.

According to Iran Human Rights, at least 2 male prisoners were executed in Kermanshah Central Prison on 25 January 2021.

The two prisoners identified as Houshang Mohammadi and Ali Angazi, were sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder.

Speaking about the case of Ali Angazi, an informed source told IHR: “He had been arrested for murder around 15 years ago.”

The number of people executed on that day is likely to have been more than 2.

Neither of the men’s executions have been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran despite almost a month passing.

According to Iran Human Rights’ annual report, at least 225 of the 280 of those executed in 2019 were charged with "premeditated murder."

As there are no legal distinctions made between murder and manslaughter, whether voluntary or involuntary in Iran, those charged under the umbrella term of “premeditated murder” will receive the death penalty regardless of intent and the circumstances.
