Iran Human Rights (IHR); November 15, 2020: A prisoner on death row for charges of “transporting and possessing drugs” has been executed at Taybad Prison.
According to Iran Human Rights, a male prisoner’s death sentence was carried out in Taybad Prison.
His identity has been established as Fakhreddin Dastyar.
Speaking to IHR about Fakhreddin’s execution, an informed source said: “Mr Dastyar was arrested with his friend on charges of carrying 105 kg of methamphetamine in 2017 and his friend who was his co-defendant was sentenced to 11 years in prison.”
At the time of publication, the execution of this prisoner has not been announced by the domestic media or officials in Iran.
According to Iran Human Rights’ annual report on the death penalty in Iran, at least 30 people were executed on drug-related charges in 2019.
