UAE: Bangladeshi worker to executed soon after death sentence upheld by Dubai Cassation Court

Dubai - A driver will be executed after Dubai's highest court confirmed his guiltiness of confining his friend in freezer truck then cold-bloodedly killed him by slitting his neck following a financial dispute.

Mohammad Shehabuddine Haji Amir Hamzah, a 23-year-old Bangladeshi worker, will be executed soon after the Dubai Cassation Court upheld the capital punishment against him early Monday morning.

"The court has unanimously confirmed the death sentence against the defendant," said Presiding Judge Mohammad Nabil Riyadh in courtroom 22 this morning.

Dubai Attorney General will soon refer the case file to the ruler's court for endorsement before the execution is carried out.

"The court has unanimously confirmed the death sentence against the defendant," said Presiding Judge Mohammad Nabil Riyadh in courtroom 22 this morning.

Last month the Appeal Court confirmed death sentence Hamzah, who convicted of committing a premeditated murder associated with theft.

The killer lost his two appeals before the Cassation and Appellate Courts when he sought to overturn the capital punishment or have it reduced.

Senior Chief Prosecutor Sami Al Shamsi, Head of Bur Dubai Prosecution, had asked for the implementation of capital punishment against Hamzah.

Prosecutors said the accused preplanned the murder after he deceivingly convinced his countryman to meet him behind the Gold Souq to resolve their financial dispute.
