Iran: Men hanged for drugs, killing policeman

Tehran, 24 Oct. (AKI) - Iran on Monday executed two people by hanging in the country's northwest, according to national media.

One man was executed in Khoramdareh for beating a policeman to death, while the second was hanged in Arbedi for drug trafficking, the Fars news agency reported.

Homicide and drug trafficking crimes carry the death penalty in Iran.

Iran, Saudi Arabia, China, the United States and Yemen are the countries that execute the highest numbers of people, according to human rights group Amnesty International.
