Saudi Arabia: convicted murderer beheaded

January 8, 2008: Saudi Arabia beheaded a convicted murderer, the interior ministry said, the first such execution of 2008.

The ministry statement said Saleh bin Ali bin Abdallah bin Hassan Bani Hamim had shot dead Jaber bin Mubarak al-Oujan Bani Hamim after a dispute. He was executed by the sword in the southeast Najran region, said the statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency.
