Iran | Executions in Karaj, Mashhad, Tabriz, Dezful, Rudan, Zahedan, Bojnourd, Semnan, Hamedan, Sanandaj
Iranian authorities have carried out the executions of five prisoners, including an Arab prisoner and a Turkish prisoner. The prisoners have been identified as Seyed Akbar Bani Hashem, Jan Mohammad Saadati, Manouchehr Nikoukhalgh, Mohammad Akbarpournia, and Amir Abbas Dekavand. The men had previously been sentenced to death in separate cases involving drug-related offenses and premeditated murder.
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Seyed Akbar Bani Hashem and Amir Abbas Dekavand were executed at dawn on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.
Both Bani Hashem and Dekavand had been sentenced to death in separate murder cases by the Iranian judiciary.
In a separate case, Manouchehr Nikoukhalgh, a 35-year-old resident of Salehabad in Torbat-e Jam County, Razavi Khorasan Province, was executed on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, in Mashhad Central Prison (Vakilabad) after being convicted on drug-related charges.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Akbarpournia, a 33-year-old Turkish prisoner, was executed on Sunday, June 7, 2026, in Tabriz Central Prison on drug-related charges. He had been sentenced to death by a Revolutionary Court approximately three years earlier.
Additionally, Jan Mohammad Saadati, a 46-year-old Arab prisoner from Ahvaz and father of two, was executed at dawn on Saturday, June 6, 2026, in Dezful Prison. He had been arrested and sentenced to death about four years ago in connection with a murder case.
None of these executions had been announced by Iranian state media or by media outlets affiliated with the judiciary.
Executions in Rudan
At least four prisoners, including two Baloch and one Turkmen, were executed in the prisons of Rudan in Hormozgan Province, Zahedan, Bojnourd, and Semnan on charges related to drug offenses, “premeditated murder,” and rape. One of the executions was carried out in secret, without the prisoner being granted a final visit with his family.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the death sentence of Ali Bakhsh Raeisi, a Baloch prisoner, was carried out secretly in Rudan Prison, Hormozgan Province, in the early hours of Sunday, June 14, 2026.
Raeisi was approximately 27 years old, married, and the father of one child. A native of Delgan County, he was arrested in Rudan in 2024 on drug-related charges and was later sentenced to death by the city's Revolutionary Court.
The same day, another Baloch prisoner, Hassan Hosseini Narouei, 58, from Zahedan, was executed in Zahedan Central Prison. He had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on drug-related charges.
Meanwhile, Hamed Heidarzadeh, 26, was executed in Semnan Central Prison in the early hours of Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
A resident of Semnan, Heidarzadeh worked at a cotton factory before his arrest. He was detained in August 2023 following a dispute over financial disagreements and was subsequently sentenced to death by the Semnan Provincial Criminal Court on charges of “premeditated murder.”
The execution of Bahaeddin Vahidi, a Turkmen prisoner, was also carried out in Bojnourd Central Prison on June 10. He had been arrested six years earlier on charges of raping a woman, murdering her, and burning her body and was later sentenced to death.
The executions of these four prisoners have not been announced by Iranian state media or official outlets affiliated with the Iranian judiciary.
Execution in Hamedan
Iranian authorities have executed Saadan Hassani, a Lor prisoner from Chenaran village in Asadabad County, who spent 26 years in prison under a death sentence for murder, in Hamedan Central Prison (Alvand Prison).
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Hassani was executed at dawn on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
Hengaw has learned that Hassani was arrested 26 years ago on charges of murdering four people and was subsequently sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary. During his lengthy imprisonment, he spent 12 years in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj before being transferred to Hamedan Central Prison.
Hassani was transferred to a solitary confinement cell in Alvand Prison on February 24, 2025, in preparation for the implementation of his death sentence. The execution was postponed at that time, but after nearly a quarter-century of imprisonment and uncertainty, the sentence was ultimately carried out on Sunday.
Iranian state media and judiciary-affiliated outlets have not announced the execution.
Keeping a prisoner under a death sentence for 26 years while subjecting him to the constant threat of execution constitutes a form of psychological torture, inhuman treatment, and a serious violation of human dignity. The Hengaw Organization for Human Rights condemns both the prolonged death-row imprisonment and the execution of Saadan Hassani as inhumane and contrary to fundamental human rights principles.
Execution in Sanandaj
The death sentence of Aram Zarei, a Kurdish prisoner from Sanandaj (Sine) who had been convicted on charges of “premeditated murder” in connection with the killing of his wife, was carried out at Sanandaj Central Prison.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Aram Zarei was executed in the early hours of Monday, June 15, 2026, at Sanandaj Central Prison in the presence of the victim’s family.
Zarei had been arrested approximately two years ago on charges of “premeditated murder” following the killing of his wife, Aida Heydarian, and was later sentenced to death.
As previously reported by Hengaw, Aida Heydarian, a 31-year-old employee of the Red Crescent Pharmacy in Sanandaj, was fatally stabbed at the couple’s home on July 16, 2024.
After the killing, Zarei attempted to take his own life with a knife at the scene. He was subsequently transferred to the hospital for treatment before being arrested and taken into custody.
He was later sentenced to qisas (retribution in kind) by the Kurdistan Province Criminal Court, a verdict that was subsequently upheld by the Supreme Court.
The execution had not been announced by Iranian state media, including Judiciary-affiliated outlets.
