Iran : deux pendaisons et une lapidation

Au cours [de ces] derniers jours, 3 hommes ont été exécutés en Iran, deux (dont un présumé prisonnier politique) par pendaison et un troisième par lapidation !

Le présumé prisonnier politique est encore un baloutche. Il s’agit de Abdol-Rahman Baloutch-Zehi. La publication de son identité complète ne laisse pas de doute sur le caractère politique de son arrestation. Il a été pendu le 29 décembre à Nik Shahr, dans le sud-est de l’Iran, a rapporté le même jour le quotidien officiel Kayhan. L’info a depuis été reprise par l’AFP qui donne la version officielle quant à son crime : le double meurtre d’une mère et de sa fille. C’est une pratique courante du régime d’accuser les prisonniers politiques de crimes avilissants comme une insulte post-mortem à l’encontre de la personne qui a attenté à la sécurité du régime.

Un autre homme, âgé de 31 ans et identifié uniquement par son prénom (Alireza), a été pendu à Ardebil dans le nord-ouest de l’Iran le 27 décembre.

Parallèlement, la presse régionale iranienne a fait état d’un homme exécuté par lapidation le 26 décembre dans l’enceinte du cimetière « Behesht é Reza » (Paradis de Reza). C’est un exemple de la justice évoquée à maintes reprises par Ahmadinejad dans ses vœux sur Channel Four.

A l’origine, la condamnation - prononcée par la Ve chambre du Tribunal de Khorasan - concernait deux hommes qui devaient être lapidés dans la même journée, selon les règles de la lapidation des hommes, c’est-à-dire enterrés jusqu’à la taille dans un trou rempli de sable, mais avec les bras dégagés. Ce mode d’enterrement partiel permet aux hommes condamnés de s’extraire éventuellement pour échapper à la mort, alors que les femmes condamnées à la lapidation sont enterrées jusqu’au cou. C’est ce qui a permis à l’un des deux condamnés de se dégager et, conformément à la charia, d'échapper ainsi à une mort atroce. Le rescapé a été identifié par son prénom (Mahmoud), mais il n’existe pas de détail sur l’homme lapidé.

Ces trois exécutions portent à 284 le nombre de condamnés exécutés cette année en Iran depuis le début de l’année 2008.

Alabama | Judge bars nitrogen gas execution, says method is unconstitutionally cruel

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- A federal judge on Tuesday permanently blocked Alabama from executing an inmate with nitrogen gas after declaring it violates the ban on cruel and unusual punishment.
