Iran Human Rights (IHR); July 16, 2019: A prisoner was hanged in public for murder charges in the Iranian city of Khandab Tuesday.
According to Iran Online, on the morning of Tuesday, July 16, a man was hanged in public in the Iranian city of Khandab.
The Iranian media outlet has not mentioned the name of the prisoner.
It is only mentioned that he was 60 at the time of the execution. He killed his wife and three people from her relatives by a firearm on March 27, 2019.
At least 110 people were executed in Iran in the first half of 2019.
Only 37 of the executions have been announced by authorities or Iranian media.
Iran Human Rights (IHR) could confirm 73 more through its sources. IHR only reports the unannounced executions if it could confirm those with two separate credible sources. Therefore, the actual number of executions may be even higher than reported.
Iran Human Rights (IHR); July 16, 2019: Four prisoners were hanged for murder charges at Urmia prison this morning.
According to IHR sources, on the early morning of Tuesday, July 16, four prisoners were hanged for murder charges at Urmia prison.
Two of them were identified by IHR sources as Khaled Royan and Heman Banavand.
All four were sentenced to death for murder charges.
Moreover, on the same day, two other death row prisoners were transferred to the solitary confinement of Urmia prison for execution. The latter two are sentenced to death for drug-related charges.
According to the Iran Human Rights statistic department, at least 273 people were executed in Iran in 2018.
