Somalia: Murderers of MPs Executed in Mogadishu

Execution of 3 Al-Shabaab militants near Mogadishu, Aug. 2014
May 13, 2015: two suspected members of Al-Shabaab were executed by firing squad in the Somali capital, Mogadishu.

Shuaib Ibrahim Mahdi, 37, and Farah Ali Abdi, 30, were found guilty by a military court in April of killing five people, including three members of the Somali Federal Parliament and two intelligence officers.

One of the MPs was the popular female singer, Saado Ali Warsame, who was killed in a drive-by shooting in July 2014.

At the time of her death, an Al-Shabaab spokesman told the BBC that the singing MP was targeted for her politics and not her music.
