Afghanistan Hangs Reputed Mafia Boss

A man described as one of Afghanistan's most notorious mafia bosses was hanged on February 28.

Rais Khodaidad, also known as Rais Saiudullah, was arrested in September and convicted of multiple counts of kidnapping, extortion, robbery, and murder and sentenced to death by a Kabul court last month.

He was hanged at Kabul's Pol-e Charkhi prison.

He was the 1st person executed since the new Afghan government took power.

The inmate convicted of murder was executed at Khorramabad Prison on April 5, according to the Norway-based Iran Human Rights Organization. Brian Dorsey, 52, is scheduled for execution Tuesday for killing his cousin and her husband at their central Missouri home in 2006. His attorneys are seeking clemency from Gov.
